HIS career may have been launched when he became a You Tube sensation but Blackburn singer songwriter Nathan Grisdale is determined to prove he's here to stay in the music business.

Nathan, 21, has been invited to perform at this summer's Lytham Festival and he's delighted with the opportunity to do a show so close to home.

"I'm really looking forward to it. I can't wait," said the former St Bede's RC High School student.

Earlier this year Nathan took his Back to Basics tour to venues around the UK which generated huge interest from the music business - and built up his massive fanbase even more - he currently has around 800,000 likes on Facebook.

"That was a more stripped back tour than my previous one," he said. "We went for a more intimate style of gig and it went down really well.

"The reason I write is so that people can connect with the songs. There are so many songs out there that mean nothing but I like doing songs that people can relate to and which mean a lot to me."

Having released several singles and an EP, Nathan is spending a lot of his time writing and working with other writers and producers.

"I'm working with various producer trying to suss out my sound really," he said. "There are a lot of train journey at the moment, that's for sure."

It's a far cry from when Nathan started out writing songs in his bedroom.

"At first I didn't expect any of this to happen," he said. "When I was writing at first I was in my room and it was just me. Now I'm working with different writers and producers. It was a bit daunting at first but now I feel much more comfortable and I really enjoy it."

Nathan said he hoped a new single may be ready for the end of the summer.

"I think it will have quite a different sound to it," he said. "Each song I write has meaning behind them but the sounds are different. I'd say it is more mature but I think everyone will like them. It's kind of taking them in a new direction but not too drastic.

"I'm finding my sound and trying to move forward from there. There is a lot of exciting music coming and I might be bringing one or two of them to Lytham."
