A MAN whose dog killed an 11-month-old baby has escaped a jail sentence for harassing the child's mum.

Blackburn Magistrates Court heard Lee Christopher Wright posted ‘sick’ messages on Facebook and other social media.

He told Chloe King it was her fault baby Ava Jayne was dead, magistrates were told.

And in one post he said he would kill her and then have sex with her dead body.

Prosecutors said he also said he would put her body in the freezer and then defrost it every day and have sex with her again.

Wright, 27, of Ronald Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to harassing Miss King.

He was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison suspended for two years, made subject to community supervision for two years and handed a week curfew between 7pm and 4am.

He was also made subject to a restraining order which prohibits him from having any contact with Chloe King or her mother.

Passing sentence, chairman of the bench John Wainwright, said the sentence was aimed at allowing Wright to benefit from contact with the probation service.

Chrissie Hunt, prosecuting, said Miss King had ended the relationship with Wright after his dog killed her baby in February.

Wright has since denied possessing a dangerous dog and is awaiting trial on that matter.

The court was told from February until July, Wright had sent Miss King numerous Snapchat messages saying things like she was responsible for Ava's death and he was reported to the police who issued a harassment warning.

She bumped into him in August and he was very apologetic. She started to chat to him through the internet but he turned nasty, magistrates heard.

"She tried to reason with him, pleading with him for it to stop but they got worse," said Miss Hunt.

He sent Miss King a list of things he was going to do before he killed himself and one of them was posting naked photographs of her on Facebook.

Paul Huxley, defending, said his client felt "utter regret" about what his dog did.

"Since then he has been the subject of abuse from members of the public," said Mr Huxley. "Miss King's mother, Claire King, has called him a murderer in a text message."

"It wasn't his fault the child died, that was the last thing he wanted," said Mr Huxley. "He has let the stress, which he is not sharing with anyone, bubble over. It has come out in comments to Chloe who is also going through a terrible time.”

Mr Huxley said Wright accepted the comments he made had been ‘foolish and immature’.
