ACCRINGTON'S Reece Bibby and his Stereo Kicks band mates survived another tense weekend on the X Factor.

The eight-piece gave a strong performance of Elton John's Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me as another Louis Walsh-mentored group, Only The Young, were voted off the talent show.

The 16-year-old's group received a standing ovation from the audience and came in for praise from Walsh and fellow judges Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Melanie Brown, Simon Cowell.

Brown said: "You know what boys? You deserved the standing ovation that you just got. I fell like, right now, you are in your element. Your harmonies were on point and you look great. Now I see you as a proper group."

All the acts sang tunes originally recorded by Elton John or Whitney Houston.

Speaking on the Xtra Factor, Reece, who goes to Hollins Technology College, said he was amazed to be part of the last group in the competition.

He said: "I didn’t even imagine I’d be in a group so it’s absolutely crazy to say we’re the last remaining group."

Stereo Kicks did however run the risk of being voted off the show last night after judges announced a double elimination weekend - but the boys made it through with Stevie being booted out.
