Now, Chorley comedian Dave Spikey is auctioning off the trademark white jacket his character Jerry St Clair wore throughout the run.

The jacket has been signed by every member of the cast including Peter Kay and Paddy McGuinness.

“It’s as it was when I came off stage,” said Dave, one of the creators of the show set in the fictitious Phoenix Club.

“There are even some notes I wrote during the show in the pocket which I’ll leave in for whoever wins it.”

Dave has put the jacket on the online auction site eBay and the bidding currently stands at £555.

“Every penny raised will go to local charities close to my heart,” said Dave. “I have no idea how much it will raise but there are over 80 people watching it already so I suspect the bids will start coming in as we near the end of the auction.”

Rossendale-based comedian Ted Robbins, gangster Den Perry in the show, collapsed during the opening night and the performance had to be abandoned but Dave said he is now making good progress at home.

“I went to see him last week and took the jacket with me for him to sign.

“He’s looking very well and doing nicely. He signed the jacket ‘Ooh I do feel poorly’ which I thought was pretty good.”

It is believed Phoenix Nights raised around £5 million for Comic Relief during its run in Manchester.

“It was great to see everyone again, we laughed from start to finish,” said Dave.

The jacket auction ends at 12.15pm on Wednesday, March 4. To bid visit www.ebay.co.uk and search for ‘Phoenix Nights jacket’.
