AN abandoned building set for demolition was targeted by arsonists in Blackburn, firefighters said.
Firefighters from Blackburn and Darwen were called at 7.50pm yesterday after witnesses saw children entering the old independent living centre with pieces of wood on Watson Street, Blackburn.
Fire crews wearing breathing equipment entered the building with hose reels and extinguished the fire after battling for two and a half hours.

Firefighters said they initially recieved reports the children seen entering the building were still inside but after a search found this was untrue.
The blaze is believed to have been started deliberately and police have been informed, firefighters said.
