A leading import and distribution company is backing local football club Accrington Stanley after relocating its growing business to new offices in Hyndburn.

Founded more than 25 years ago, JWP Ltd imports and distributes innovative and high quality products to well-known trade and retail outlets across the UK, specialising in home and kitchenware. Now a subsidiary of the Meyer Group - one of the UK's largest kitchenware suppliers - it is settling into new offices at Mercury Rise, on the Altham Business Park.

"We were previously based in Blackburn and in other offices," explained JWP's sales and marketing director Geoff Hounslea, "but we're consolidating our operation here because it's a great place to do business.

"We're aiming to hit £10m. turnover in the next 12 months, we've recruited four new staff members in the past year and we're continuing to grow. These smart modern offices are perfect for us, with great motorway links."

To celebrate its move, JWP is getting behind local football club Accrington Stanley and its "decima" events, marking 10 years back in the Football League. Having already sponsored advertising signage at the club's Wham Stadium, ensuring TV exposure from televised matches, JWP is now sponsoring the club's home game against Newport County on Saturday November 14th and has booked a table at a fund-raising Decima Dinner taking place that evening at Accrington Town Hall.

On top of all that, JWP is donating more than £1,000 worth of Star Wars-themed stock from one of its bestselling product lines to help the club and the Official Accrington Stanley Supporters Club (OASSC) raise more funds.

Star Wars characters and Marvel superheroes feature in the fantastic TV-advertised 3D wall lights from 3DLightFX, perfect for children's bedrooms or older fans of the cult figures. Using a special background sticker with a battery-powered LED 3D wall light mounted on top, these striking and easy-to-fit products give the effect of a face, a fist, space ship or even a light sabre bursting through a cracked wall.

JWP Ltd is donating 10 Star Wars 3D wall lights to Accrington Stanley and a further 22 to the OASSC, which has organised the Decima Dinner. For the November 14th match at the Wham Stadium, JWP is providing 10,000 leaflets to be distributed through all local primary schools offering free entry to a child under 12 (when accompanied by a paying adult) and entry into a free prize draw to win one of the Star Wars 3D wall lights.

"We want to feel part of the community and all of our staff and their families are invited along to the match on the 14th, with some of the children acting as mascots," added Geoff Hounslea.

"As a business we're delighted to move to this area and to help Accrington Stanley celebrate its milestone 10 years back in the Football League."

In fact the move brings JWP closer to its roots, as it was founded by Jim Wilkinson, part of the famous George Wilkinson dynasty of Burnley bakeware manufacturers. Now JWP counts big names including John Lewis, Dunelm, The Range, Selfridges, Argos, Waitrose, Morrisons, Amazon and Lakeland among its customers, as well as independent retailers across the UK.
