The Farmers Guardian online reporter started blogging in 2013, after she moved to Perth in Australia with her partner Richard Slinger, 27, to live with his family.

She wanted to keep a piece of home close by and requested that the cookery book was sent over to Australia and it became the focal point for blogging.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Miss Ashworth said she had never looked into blogging before going to Australia and it was an eye opening experience.

She said: "The majority of my childhood was spent at my Grandma's side, watching her bake.

"Being so far away, it was nice to be able to cook the things she had and I became interested in our traditions and how we used to eat.

"My mum also used to print my blogs off for my Grandma so she could read them which made her really happy."

Returning to Clitheroe, the writer put blogging to one side after she adjusted to life back in England, but then decided to change the direction that her blog was going.

She said: "I developed a passion for British produce and traditions such a sitting around the table on a Sunday.

"In the past couple of years, after speaking to people and looking at our history, I have become increasingly devoted to championing real food, real cooking and trying to change people's approach to eating.

"My Grandma's recipes were the starting point and it's true she did teach me how to bake and how to make meals that brought the whole family together.

"I want to make people interested in our produce and ways of life again.

"For someone who's 25 I think I'm doing something a bit different in that I want to try and save our traditions.

"I entered the blog awards because I'm passionate about food and our history and I'm trying to preserve it. It wouldn't bother me if I didn't win, but I'd love to go as far as I could."

The blogger needs the most votes to be shortlisted into the final, which will take place in London.
