A man reached out of the car before throwing three house bricks at the officers, hitting a 29-year-old female officer on the leg.

The car then sped off through a red light. It was found abandoned a few hours later on St Philip’s Street.

T/Sgt 3267 Chris Valentine said: “We are keen to trace this vehicle and in particular the people involved in this incident which we believe was targeted.

“It is lucky that no one was seriously hurt although an officer, just there to do her job, was hit by one of the bricks and has been left with heavy bruising to her thigh.

“We have managed to trace the previous owner of the car who has recently sold it on. Do you know who now owns the car? Do you recognise it? If you have any information that could help us with our investigation, please get in touch.”
