HUNDREDS of teenagers from across East Lancashire will be anxiously awaiting their GCSE results which will be published tomorrow.

Students are reminded support and guidance is available from the county’s teachers and Lancashire County Council’s advice service Talk Zone.

Ivan Catlow, headteacher of St Cecilia’s RC High School in Longridge, said: “Students should be aware there is always another way. If you have not got the results you are hoping for there are other options.

“Talk it through with teachers and the colleges and other providers and explain the results you have got.

“There is no need to panic. There is lots of advice out there.”

Young people between the ages of 12 and 19 can access the council’s Talk Zone by phone text, webtalk, email and Facebook from 2pm to 10pm 365 days a year.

Matthew Tomlinson, cabinet member for children, young people and schools, said: “I appreciate this can be a very worrying time for young people. I can still remember vividly how anxious I felt going into school to get my O and A-level results.

“Through Talkzone, young people can speak with trained advisors in confidence and chat through anything that is worrying them, as well as their exam results.

“Staff are able to talk about a wide range of issues which young people tell us they really appreciate, including feeling low, relationships, leaving home or contraceptive advice.”

Tracy Scotland, Talkzone manager, said: “We are available 365 days a year to talk to any young person about any concern they have.”
