Blackburn motorcycle racing legend, Carl Fogarty, is to auction off one of his “prized vehicles” giving fans the chance to own a genuine ‘Foggy bike’.
Carl Fogarty's team 'Ducati Corsa' Paddock Scooter is up for grabs and has an estimated price of £7,000-£11,000.
It’s even been signed by the man himself.
Carl, who once raced for an is an ambassador for Ducati, would be given a new paddock scooter each year by the Ducati team. It would be painted up as a replica of his race bike.
The Ducati Corsa paddock scooter is Carl's last ever one and it was presented to him at the start of the 2000 season and based on a 2000 Malaguti Phantom F12.
A spokesperson said: “Whilst road registered in Carl's name, it was only ever used around the paddock and was then taken to his villa in Spain on his retirement where it did not see much use so is offered in excellent condition.
“Dry stored and displayed in his house in recent years, it will need a battery and recommissioning before use.
“Signed on the front number plate it comes together with a letter of provenance, the original V5 and a current V5C both in Carl's name.
“This is a unique opportunity to acquire a genuine piece of Carl's racing history.”
Carl is considered to be one of the greatest British motorcycle racers all time and is a seven-time motorcycle racing world champion.
His early successes came in the road based Formula 1 series, including three TT wins and a circuit record that stood for seven years.
In the World Superbike Championship in 1992 he became one of the only true privateers to ever win a WSB race as well as winning the World Endurance Championship on a Kawasaki.
Joining the official Ducati team in 1993 he won dozens of races and four World Superbike Championships.
He retired in 2000 after failing to recover from an crash-related injury.
Carl has since gone onto make some media appearances, winning series 14 of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
The scooter is being auctioned off by H&H Classics auction house. The auction will take place on Wednesday 6 April, 12pm, at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, West Midlands.
