An East Lancashire care home has been shortlisted for two national awards.

Haslingden Hall Care Home, in Lancaster Avenue, Haslingden, is in the running for two awards at the Caring UK Awards, which recognise excellence and achievement within the care sector across the UK.

The awards include ‘north care home of the year’ and ‘care employee of the year’.

Jasmine Court Care Home, in Chorley, have also been shortlisted for the ‘best initiative in care’ award

Minster Care Group, the sister brand of the homes’ operator Amicura, has also been shortlisted in the Care Group of the Year category.

Earlier this year, Haslingden Hall managed to improve its ‘requires improvement’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to a ‘good’.

Christopher Bee, who works as a senior care assistant at Haslingden Hall, has been shortlisted for Care Employee of the Year.

Christopher Bee said: “I’m honoured to be shortlisted amongst some fantastic colleagues in the sector, and I’m looking forward to hearing more about everyone’s contributions at the awards ceremony.”

Jeanette Fairclough, manager at Jasmine Court, said: “We strive to deliver the best quality care for our residents.

“Coming up with new ideas to benefit their well-being and seeing them come to life has been wonderful.

“We have implemented three new initiatives this year as Jasmine and we have seen a noticeable increase in the morale at the home. I want to congratulate everyone who’s made the shortlist. Fingers crossed for the final judging decision!”

An awards spokesperson said: “Never has there been a more appropriate time to recognise the amazing and selfless contribution that our carers make and how they have given so much to protect and care for their residents in the face of unprecedented challenges.”

In each category up to seven finalists have been selected and they will now go through to the next stage of the judging process.

The winners will be revealed at a glittering awards ceremony, hosted by Emmerdale actor Dean Andrews, at The Athena in Leicester on Thursday, December 1, when the industry will gather to salute all that is great about the caring sector and recognise the amazing contribution it makes throughout the year.
