A MAN who resisted arrest told police he was a mixed martial arts fighter.

Blackburn magistrates heard Jordan O'Brien ran away from the officers but his flight came to an end when one of them drew his taser and trained the red dot on him.

O'Brien, 24, of Cherry Lodge, Islington, pleaded guilty to resisting arrest. He was fined £160 with £85 costs and £64 victim surcharge which was all set against the time he had spent in custody.

Nicola Mills, prosecuting, said police were called to a domestic disturbance and there were allegations that someone was breaching a non-molestation order.

"They arrested and cautioned the defendant but couldn't put him in handcuffs because he was holding a child in his arms," said Ms Mills.

"He was eventually taken out to be put in a van but ran off. Officers chased him into a field and he eventually stopped after the taser had been drawn and the red dot placed on the defendant."

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client apologised for his behaviour.

"He was frustrated because he was being arrested and accepts making things significantly more difficult for the police," said Mr Taylor.
