EAST Lancashire students will move on to jobs, apprenticeships and university in September after securing a 100 per cent vocational course pass rate.

Students from Nelson and Colne College (NCC) secured passes in all subjects including PE, hairdressing, science and business.

Some will move on to university degrees while others will be starting apprenticeships and jobs.

Zahra Waris, 17, of Brierfield, will start an apprenticeship at Barrowford pre-school nursery in September.

The level 2 childcare student had been spending two days a week there as part of her course.

Health and Social Care student Rebecca Leaver, 18, who completed a hospital placement and joined the Health Cadet scheme alongside her theory work, will start a nursing degree at the University of Salford.

Paul Britton, assistant principal at NCC, said: “We are delighted to once again be celebrating a 100 per cent pass rate for vocational studies.

“This year we have so many students off to exciting destinations after their time at NCC.”

Students off to university include Shaughna Anderson who will study a masters in Chemistry at the University of Central Lancashire, Shamsa Iqbal will take pre-medical studies at Lancaster University, James Ridehalgh will study sports coaching at Liverpool John Moores University, Zameer Ejaz will study Computer Science at the University of Leicester and Amy Finn will study photography at the University of Central Lancashire after a gap year. Ali Shah will read business management at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Engineering student Phillip Tetley will begin work at Keighley Laboratories Ltd while childcare student Elliott Wight has started working for Little People of Piccadilly Day Nursery in Burnley.

Chelsea Tattersall and Kelsie Lampard, who studied Level 3 Hair, will start work on Steiner cruise ships and Becky Coyne from Public Services will train as a firefighter in the RAF.

Business student Annabelle Robinson has landed an advanced apprenticeship with Calico while catering student Kevin Muldowney will start an apprenticeship with the Seafood Pub Company at the Town Green Brasserie, in Aughton.
