TEN-MAN Accrington Stanley slipped to the bottom of the League Two table after a heavy defeat at Shrewsbury Town.
Stanley, who had already lost their opening two league matches, were behind in the seventh minute when keeper Luke Simpson saw his clearance rebound off former Reds striker Andy Mangan into the net.
Simpson’s nightmare evening was over after 43 minutes when he was sent off for hauling down Mangan after misjudging a bouncing ball. Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro converted the penalty.
It was 3-0 at half time as Connor Goldson quickly added another goal, before Mangan netted his second of the game in the 65th minute.
Stanley: Luke Simpson, Nicky Hunt, Dean Winnard, Tom Aldred, Jordan Mustoe, Will Hatfield (Kal Naismith 80), Luke Joyce, Josh Windass, Piero Mingoia, George Bowerman (Jay Lynch 43), James Gray (Marcus Carver 75). Subs not used: Rob Atkinson, Liam Goulding, Shay McCartan, James Alabi.
