BURNLEY skipper Jason Shackell was pleased to secure a second successive clean sheet in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace – but admitted mixed feelings about the result.

The Clarets followed up their goalless draw at home to Manchester United with another shut-out at Selhurst Park – their first ever clean sheet on their travels in the Premier League.

But Sean Dyche’s men came close to their first win of the season when Scott Arfield saw a late penalty saved by Julian Speroni.

“It was a tough game, they created a few good opportunities and then obviously when we get to 0-0 with five minutes to go we're a bit disappointed not to come away with a win,” Shackell said.

“Any point away from home in the Premier League is a good point, so we're happy, they're a dangerous team.

"It was another solid performance and on another day we could have maybe nicked it.

"It's nice to get a couple of early clean sheets and hopefully we can get a few more over the course of the season."

Shackell has impressed together with central defensive partner Michael Duff in the early matches this term.

“We’ve just carried on from last year I think, where we are hard to beat," Duff said.

“We’re organised, we have players who work hard for each other and we can stay in games.

“That gives you a great platform to go away and get a point or potentially nick all three, which we were unfortunate not to do.

“We are a little disappointed as it is 0-0 in the 84th minute and we’ve have missed a penalty.

"But you have to take the positives from the game, it’s another clean sheet in the Premier League and away from home too.

“Any point away from home is good but especially in this league."
