Blackburn 32 Aldwinians 14

BLACKBURN continued their splendid start to the season, overpowering Aldwinians 32-14 at Ramsgreave Drive.

And Burn secured a precious bonus point, although they had to wait until the final play of the game to to score their fourth try.

It was nip and tuck throughout, with early penalties giving the Manchester outfit the lead in an entertaining North Lancs/Cumbria fixture.

However, once the home side get the ball moving their cutting edge saw them home to second win of the campaign following their promising opening victory against Wigan.

Burn had to dig deep, though as Aldwinians opened up an early 9-3 lead – Sam Morgan slotting over a penalty for the hosts.

Morgan added another penalty as Blackburn continue to apply the pressure and then they took the lead when, from a lineout, Ali Reay found himself with a clear route to the try line and he made no mistake and Blackburn led 11-9 at the break.

Burn were quickly into their stride in the second period and they rewarded with a further try six minutes into the second half.

The scrum on the twenty-two saw the ball pushed on to Josh Reilly, who provided an opening for Dom Morgan, and his pass to Sam Parkinson put him in from 20 metres out.

Morgan kicked the two points, and Blackburn stretching their lead to nine points.

Jack Maher scored a third try, successfully converted by Morgan as Blackburn opened up a 25-9 lead.

Aldwininians drove over for their first try but Blackburn finally sealed their win with a slick move ending with Anton Garcia crashing over.

Blackburn have nine out of 10 points this season and go to Whitehaven on Saturday.
