BURNLEY midfielder Scott Arfield has once again been overlooked by Scotland boss Gordan Strachan.

Arfield, who has scored Burnley’s only goal so far this season in the 3-1 defeat by Chelsea, was not included in Scotland’s squad for two European Championship qualifiers later this month.

The 25-year-old has impressed in his debut season in the top flight but is still waiting his first Scotland cap after he did not make Strachan’s 27-man squad for matches with Georgia at Ibrox on October 11 and Poland in Warsaw on October 15.

Blackburn Rovers captain Grant Hanley was included but his Ewood Park team-mates Jordan Rhodes and Craig Conway were both left out.

Former Burnley striker Steven Fletcher was among four strikers picked by Strachan.

There is no place for Burnley’s Danny Lafferty in the Northern Ireland squad for their European Championship qualifiers.

Former Clarets defender Chris Baird, now at West Brom, is included in the squad for their matches with Faroe Islands and Greece.

Another ex-Claret Kyle Lafferty, now at Norwich City, is also named in Michael O’Neill’s 27-man party.

Burnley-born Reading midfielder Oliver Norwood is another included, as is Blackburn Rovers midfielder Corry Evans.
