JOHN Coleman believes it would be best for John O’Sullivan if Blackburn Rovers agree to extend the midfielder’s loan at Accrington Stanley until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has potentially already played the last game of his current loan deal, which expires on December 20, having been forced off through injury after scoring in Saturday’s 3-2 win at Portsmouth.

O’Sullivan is said to be attracting interest from other clubs and could also be required back at Blackburn after the Ewood Park side were hit by a transfer embargo.

But Coleman wants to extend the Irishman’s at Stanley and yesterday made a spirited pitch to keep O’Sullivan, who he also worked with last season at Southport.

“I’d like him to stay until the end of the season,” the Reds boss said. “It’s in Blackburn’s hands, if they think it’s part of his development and it will improve him.

“I know it will improve him, the experience of the Football League.

“I had him in the Conference, I saw how well he came on.

“I’ve seen the development taken on to another level and I think by the end of the season he’ll be the ready-made article to go and compete in the Championship.”
