Chorley Ladies 5 Rotherham Ladies 2
CHORLEY Ladies created their own bit of history as they reached the second round of the Women’s FA Cup for the first time.
The Ladies had to come from behind against a resilient Rotherham side who had their hosts on the back foot in the opening 20 minutes and held a deserved early lead.
But Chorley weathered the storm and thanks to a Vicky Coope hat-trick - two of them from the penalty spot - stormed back to secure a 5-2 win and book a second round tie with FC Reedswood.
After the early setback, Coope had the Ladies on level terms, converting her spot kick after Sarah Berry was tripped in the area. Scarlett Smith made it 2-1 before Sam Cadwallader drilled in another just before the break.
Chorley’s fourth came from the spot, Coope again converting after Smith was halted in the area following a skilful run.
Coope completed her hat-trick, latching on to an inch-perfect cross from Danielle Brookwell before Rotherham scored a consolation with two minutes to go.
Chorley Ladies will now play host to FC Reedswood at Charnock Richard on January 11.
