NELSON and Colne College Sixth Form is celebrating after its netball Academy team triumphed in the British Colleges Sport Plate competition.
The competition, which atttracted 18 colleges from across the country, was held at the Amaechi Centre in Manchester.
And for the second consecutive year, Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form were crowned plate winners.
The Academy team played four games in the group stages, emerging unbeaten before facing Priestly College in the final.
It what proved to be a tough final, the teams were drawing at half time, but the Nelson and Colne College girls rallied to produce a stunning 12-7 victory.
Netball coach Lora Speak said: “I am so proud of our team. They got better match-by-match and supported each other throughout.
“This is the second year the College has won the plate and I know that the team will have fantastic memories of the tournament.”
The team, captained by Annie Wyld, included Olivia Bythell, Olivia Purtill, Emily Wilson, Jodie Sutcliffe, Nikki Harper and Lizzie Jennings.
