LEICESTER City striker David Nugent could miss the chance to continue his fine scoring streak against former club Burnley as he battles a calf injury.

Nugent has scored six goals in nine games against Burnley since his loan spell at Turf Moor during the 2009/10 season but was forced to withdraw from Leicester’s win over Swansea City on Saturday after picking up an injury during the warm-up.

The 29-year-old is now a major doubt to be fit for the Foxes’ trip to Burnley on Saturday.

Leonardo Ulloa has provided a strong claim to retain his place in the starting line-up in any case, finding the net against Swansea after stepping into the team at the last minute.

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson said: “With Nuge it is a calf problem and until we get a scan on it, we don’t know how long he will be out.

“Generally speaking when he has had this problem before, he is a quick healer but we will have to wait for the results.”

Defender Marcin Wasilewski went off at half time on Saturday, and was replaced by Ritchie De Laet.

Pearson said: “Marcin got a bit of a knock in training on Friday.

“When we went to a back four in the latter part of the first half, there is an awful lot more running involved in a full back situation than as a centre back in a three. That is why you have subs.”
