BLACKBURN Rovers midfielder Tom Cairney has completed his switch to Championship rivals Fulham for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old moves to Craven Cottage on a four-year deal.

Cairney arrived at Rovers on loan from Hull City in August 2013, before making the move to Ewood Park a permanent one in January 2014.

He was player of the season in his first 12 months at the club and he won Rovers’ goal of the season award during 2014/15, albeit in a campaign when he made less of an impact.

In total, he scored nine goals in 85 appearances for the club.

Fulham are backed by billionaire Shahid Khan and are keen to improve their squad after finishing in a disappointing 17th place in their first season following relegation from the Premier League.

Cairney told Fulham's official website: “I’m delighted. Now I’m just so looking forward to getting started and meeting the boys.

“The hard work starts now because it’s pre-season but I can’t wait to get back here, get settled and get in amongst it.

“For most of my life Fulham have been a Premier League club and have only been out of it for a year. They’ve had some great players over the years and it’s a very attractive club to come to.

“Every player wants to play in the Premier League and if I can do that with Fulham that would be fantastic.”
