FORMER Blackburn Rovers favourite David Dunn has signed for Oldham Athletic.

Dunn, who ended his long association with Rovers at the end of last season, has penned a one-year deal at the League One outfit.

Dunn said: "I'm really looking forward to joining up with the rest of the lads and putting my boots back on.

"I've been fortunate enough to watch a few games during pre-season so there is a lot of good, young players so hopefully with my experience I can bring them on as well. From what I've seen so far, we seem to pass the ball really well and I'm sure I can fit into that really well.

"Hopefully I can chip in the assists and some goals as well. I've got a good record and I've scored a lot of goals from midfield in the past so we'll see what happens.

"I need to a bit of fitness work in the next few weeks but then I'll crack on and start showing the fans what I'm all about.

"I've tended to watch a lot of League One and League Two over the last couple of years. I've played at the top level for a number of years but I'm looking forward to the challenge.

"People have told me that I shouldn't have dropped down but whilst I am still hungry to play and prove myself I'm really looking forward to doing that."

Oldham boss Darren Kelly added: "David is a very experienced player and he will be a great addition to our existing squad.

"He has Premier League class and his experience will be vital to the younger players in our dressing room.

"This signing will make our midfield one of the strongest in League One so I'm looking forward to working with David."
