BLACKBURN Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes a doubt for Saturday’s trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Rhodes sat out Tuesday’s 1-1 home draw with Cardiff City after he was on the end of a poor challenge in last Saturday’s 1-1 away draw with Huddersfield Town.

If Rhodes misses the trip to the Amex it will be the first time in his Rovers career that he has not featured in two league games running.

“We’re seeing a different personality to him because he does not like missing games,” joked Rovers boss Gary Bowyer.

“No, in all seriousness, he’s working ever so hard to get fit and we’re going to give him as long as possible.

“It was a hell of a whack which he took on it but he’s in the best possible hands and hopefully we’ll see him return as quickly as possible.”

Asked if it is a more serious ankle injury than the one Rhodes sustained in the pre-season opener at Accrington Stanley, Bowyer said: “It’s a different type because it’s actual contact, as well as the twist in there.

“We’ll monitor him and hopefully he’ll be ready in time for Saturday.”

Bowyer will be without Chris Taylor (groin) and Chris Brown (knee) against Brighton but Fode Koita has overcome the knee knock that forced him off at half-time against Cardiff while Corry Evans may also return.

“Fode got a knock the day before so we knew it was a bit of a risk,” said Bowyer.

“But the lad was really keen to make his full debut and you had seen the impact he had made as a sub.

“We didn’t quite see that impact on Tuesday night but I’m sure he’ll be fine for Saturday and then we’ll have a decision to make.”
