BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche is among the bookmakers’ favourites for the vacant Sunderland manager’s job following the departure of Dick Advocaat.

The Dutchman resigned yesterday following the Black Cats 2-2 draw with West Ham on Saturday which left them 19th in the Premier League table and still looking for their first win of the campaign.

Dyche is currently second favourite for the job with former Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce odds on to replace Advocaat at the Stadium of Light.

And Dyche, speaking after Friday night’s win over Rotherham, insisted that he was fully focussed on guiding the Clarets back into the top-flight at the first time of asking.

“”It’s a paper story, that’s all I know, my focus is still here, that’s all I can do,” Dyche said of the link with Sunderland.

“It’s nothing to do with me. I know nothing of it.”

Other names linked with the job include Karl Robinson of MK Dons and Burton’s Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Former Leicester boss Nigel Pearson is avail-able, while Wearside goal hero Kevin Phillips has also been mentioned.
