IT WAS a fantastic weekend for us against the two Sheffield sides with two great victories.

Saturday against Sheffield Senators was a bit difficult, we struggled to get going early on, they’re a new team in the league this year having come up last season and we had a few bodies missing.

But we did a professional job, we got our game going and we came away with an 8-2 win.

Sunday against Sheffield Spartans was a great performance. The desire, commitment and will to win all went up by about 50 per cent — we did a brilliant job.

They were never really in the game and they’re a good side. They caused us some problems last year. They had a few players missing but they still had good players out there.

It was the best performance of the season so far, but we all still think we’ve got more to come, so there a lot of positives.

They are great signs for the season ahead; one of the best things about this team is that we always think we can get better.

It is still early days, there’s plenty of new players here and we are still learning each other’s games. We’ve not hit our best yet, I’m sure of that, we’re still trying to fully gel as a team.

I got a hat-trick in the win on Sunday, they don’t come along very often these days so it was great to be among the goals.

We’re getting goals from every line at the moment, which is something we’ve never really had as a team before.

Every line is performing at the moment, which is giving us plenty of goals and we are creating a lot of opportunities as well.

We’ve only conceded five goals in our five league games so far, and a good defensive record is something we have always wanted to do and something we pride ourselves on. It gives you a good base to go out and play.

If you look after your own end and your own zone then everything else should take care of itself.

We’ve got a big weekend coming up, we’ve got a rematch at Sheffield with the Spartans and then on Sunday we host Solway Sharks, so they will be two real tough tests for us.

We’ve had a really good start to the season but it’s too early to be thinking about going unbeaten again. We didn’t really think about it until the last game of last season.

We can’t get carried away because we will end up with egg on our faces. We will continue to take it one game at a time, starting this weekend.
