GOLDEN girl Niamh Robinson showed that she was back in the fast lane after a multi medal winning performance at the Wycombe & District Swimming Club’s Long Course Premier Open Meet.

The 16-year-old Pioneer 79 swimming signalled her return to form as she won six gold medals and a silver to take the Top Overall Girl title at the prestigious event.

It was an impressive display from the talented Darwen teenager, who represented the Isle of Man in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014, after a six month lull of having achieved no long course personal best time.

For Robinson also achieved five British Championship Qualifying Times (Olympic Trials), six Long Course Commonwealth Games Consideration Times for the Gold Coast 2018 and two New Isle of Man records.

During the days of competition, Robinson competed in nine events and she started with bang knocking a phenomenal 5.5 seconds off her previous personal best in the 400m individual medley (4mins 54.55secs) to win gold.

She was also in gold medal winning form in her next event, clocking 1min 02.92 secs to win the 100m butterfly.

Splash-and-dash specialists Ben Martin struck gold in his favoured 50m freestyle - an event he has already secured a place in at next month's British Championships in Glasgow.

The 15-year-old was hoping to make it a double after achieve the required time in the 100m freestyle but he just missed out, clocking 54.60 secs to finish in seventh place.

Martin took part in five events in total, the 50m freestyle the pick of them as he won gold after finishing in a time of 24.73secs.

He also set a new PB in 50m Butterfly of 27.25secs to finish fifth overall in his age group.

The busy Elodie Smallwood was in fine form, competing in eight events winning a silver medal and setting three new personal best times over the weekend.

She lowered her best time in the 800m freestyle, clocking 9mins 30.94secs to finish in 18th place overall.

Elodie was just outside her PB in the 400m IM but her time of 5mins 14.17secs was good enough to win silver medal in her age group.

Just 30 minutes later, she too was back in the pool for the 100m Butterfly, finishing seventh.

On day two, she set PBs in the 200m freestyle (2mins 10.74secs) where she was seventh and she finished just outside the medals in fourth place in the 400m freestyle in a new best time of 4mins 34.22secs.

And Ben Turland swam five events over the two days and certainly saved his best until last.

After impressive in his opening three events, he had a fabulous swim in the 200m freestyle setting a PB of 2mins 06.79secs to finish 13th in his age group.

And there was another PB in the 50m butterfly, clocking 29.02secs to take ninth position.

Eleanor Collin, 15, swam in seven events, all in the backstroke and breaststroke.

And while results didn't quite go her way, she showed her determination and dedication in the final two events, finishing in ninth place in both the 100m backstroke and the 50m breaststroke events.

Joe Murray, 16, had to bide his time for his two events, swimming in the last event of day one where he finished fifth in the 50m breaststroke in a time of 31.46secs which was just outside his PB.

On day two he was back for the 100m breaststroke and swam under the 1mins 10.00secs barrier for the first time, finishing second in his heat with a time of 1mins 09.89secs.

Head Coach Mike Wilson commented: “Our Swimmers displayed some great performances - at this stage in the competition calendar we are expecting swimmers to be close to their personal best times, however for so many new personal best times to be achieved was a great achievement and I am delighted."
