NEW Blackburn Rovers boss Owen Coyle is working ‘non-stop’ to bolster his squad – with goalscorers at the top of his wish list.

Coyle is coming to the end of a busy first full week in charge at Ewood Park in which he has upped the speed of his recruitment drive.

The former Republic of Ireland international is set to meet a number of potential targets and their representatives in the coming days as he attempts to add further quality to his ranks.

And it is believed that one of the players he will be talking to is fan favourite Danny Graham.

Graham scored seven goals in 18 games during a successful loan spell at Rovers in the second half of last season.

The former Watford and Swansea City frontman will be a free agent come July 1 after Sunderland yesterday confirmed they would not be offering him a new contract.

Coyle, who has also been linked with Anthony Stokes, who is available on a free transfer after leaving Celtic, has identified the need for ‘natural’ finishers.

Rovers currently have zero strikers on their books beyond June 30 with Simeon Jackson, Chris Brown and Nathan Delfouneso all set to depart when their contracts expire at the end of the month.

And Coyle, who also wants to add more pace to his attack, said: “It’s been non-stop since we got in and we would not have expected anything different.

“Once we got in at this magnificent club it was important to take stock of what we had – and it’s clear that we have to add to the striking department.

“We need quality strikers who can get goals for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship; the kind of strikers who can win you a game. Natural strikers who, in difficult moments in games, when they’re tied or tight, can pop up with goals.

“But I still want to add natural speed in the wide areas. So that’s why I’m looking for a really quick player out there.

“The fans will know as well as us which areas we need to address, so it’s important we find players who will fill those positions and at the same time enhance our squad, because when we do step out on to the field in Championship, we want to be ready to stand toe to toe with the very best of them.”

When asked when he expects to make his first signing or signings, Coyle, who is using his contacts to line up possible loan recruits, said: “I’d like to make them today or tomorrow but a lot of it is circumstantial.

“The Euros are on and players are here, there and everything at the moment but we are doing everything in our power to bring players in who can help us.”
