LIAM Feeney can't wait to show Blackburn Rovers fans his full range of talents after returning to the club on a permanent basis.

The winger had a brief loan spell at Ewood Park three years ago, coming in for the last two months of the season as the team pushed for a play-off place under Gary Bowyer.

But the 29-year-old feels he is now coming into his prime and is excited to link up with new manager Owen Coyle, who made Feeney his fourth signing of the season on an initial two-year deal.

He said: “From being here before I know about the stature of the club and the success it’s had.

"I really want to be a part of getting back to where it should be.

“The manager filled me full of confidence, he spoke really well to me and he’s outlined his plans for the season and what he expects from me.

“He’s a really positive man. I’ve got nothing but respect for him and I’ve heard nothing but good things about him, so I'm really looking forward to working with him."

He added: “It’s different circumstances this time.

"Obviously a couple of year ago it was a loan, just for a short amount of time until the end of the season, and the boys were really pushing for the play-offs at the time.

“Now I’m coming here as a Blackburn player, fully fledged, and I feel part of the club and I’m looking forward to it.

"I had a bit part to play, so I felt I didn’t really get to show my full armoury of what I do. But I’m looking forward to being here permanently and showing what I’m about."

Feeney was out of contract at Bolton, where he scored eight goals in 88 appearances before spending a loan spell with Ipswich at the end of last season.

And while he felt he did well in a Wanderers shirt, he admits the turmoil behind the scenes at the Macron Stadium was tough at times.

He added: “I thought it went pretty well. It was difficult circumstances, having a few off-the-field troubles that were well documented.

“It was tough at times to keep your head down and play through that, but I felt like I did it quite well and I had a pretty solid season.

"I’m grateful that the manager has given me a chance to come and play here.

“I definitely feel I’m coming into my prime. I’ve had a couple of solid seasons at Bolton, playing every week.

“I like to think I did pretty well for them and now I come here for a new challenge.

“Everything is geared towards success here. The gaffer is bringing in some quality players to add to the quality that was already here, and hopefully I can add to that as well.

“It’s a really exciting time."

Feeney joins established strikers Danny Graham and Anthony Stokes, as well as young West Ham full-back Stephen Hendrie, as Coyle's new boys and he's excited about the way the manager is going about his business.

“There was already quality here and the gaffer has added to that really well," he said. "It bodes well.

“Hopefully, after a good pre-season, we can have a good start and have some success.”
