BLACKBURN Rovers Academy will head to West Brom this Saturday (11.30am) chasing a third successive Under-18 Premier League victory.

Billy Barr’s side made it back-to-back wins to move up to fifth in the North Division table with a 1-0 home success over Middlesbrough last Saturday.

A second-half header from Daniel Butterworth proved the difference between the teams.

And Rovers boss Barr said: “Both sets of coaches will be disappointed with the way the teams failed to keep onto the ball.

“We were better in the second half than the first but still we can be a lot better.

“The back four were solid but our attacking flow wasn’t as we would like.

“I’m pleased for the lads that they got the win but there is definitely stuff to work on during the week.”

Chances were few and far between in the opening period with Ben Ascroft saving a deflected effort before Butterworth flashed a shot just past the post at the other end.

But the game opened up after the restart and, after Ascroft made another stop, Butterworth saw a goal ruled out for a foul.

Rovers, however, were not to be denied and, after Lewis Thompson saw an attempt cleared off the line, they notched what proved to be the winner in the 70th minute.

Substitute Mason Fawns sent over a corner to the near post where Butterworth clipped the ball into the net for his second goal of the season.
