Carabao Cup first-round draw: Blackburn Rovers host Walsall

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men made it to the fourth round last term following victories against Hartlepool, Bradford and Premier League outfit West Ham.

They were eventually knocked out by Nottingham Forest following a 4-1 defeat at Ewood Park despite Scott Wharton’s goal on the stroke of half time.

The sides haven’t met since February 2018 when Danny Graham bagged a brace in a 2-1 victory at the Bescot Stadium.

The competition is regionalised at this stage, with separate draws taking place for the northern and southern sections.

The draws were carried out live on Sky Sports by former Tottenham defender Michael Dawson and ex-Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley.

All first-round ties are scheduled to be played on the week commencing Monday, August 7.
